Kidnapping is taking someone from one location to another or forcibly holding that person against his or her will. Movement of the victim is a vital component of kidnapping under Georgia law.

Penalties for Kidnapping
There are a number of penalties for kidnapping that may be applied, depending on the circumstances of the case.
If the victim is under the age of 14:
- Prison sentence of 10 to 20 years
- Lifetime probation
If the victim sustained bodily injury or if the victim was kidnapped for ransom:
- Life imprisonment or
- Death
